My name is Katie Cahn. I am from the Rocky Mountains of Denver, Colorado, and I am a future educator! I received an undergraduate degree from Wesleyan University, with a major in Sociology, a minor in Education Studies, and a certificate in Social, Cultural, and Critical Theory. During this time, I became involved with an after-school tutoring program that was more of a community than an organization. I fell in love, not only with the community but with the power that education can have when it is tied to the lives of the children it is meant to teach. I ended up running the program my junior and senior years. When I graduated, I applied and got into an AmeriCorps education program in Boston. So for the past year, I have been serving alongside the Director of early college at a STEM high school, in the Dudley neighborhood of Roxbury. My experiences in education, the classes I took in college, and the world that we currently live in have all led me to this moment of wanting to become a teacher and make it my life's work to be in education.
