Madeleine Peck

Urban Education Policy (UEP)

Biography

Madeleine Peck is from Newtown, Connecticut, but now calls Providence home. She is an English language development teacher in Providence Public Schools and will teach throughout her studies at Brown. Madeleine became interested in education policy while studying journalism at Ohio University. She explored how flaws in our education systems perpetuate deep injustice. This motivated her to make a direct impact on education systems. Before leading her own classroom, as a Teach For America Rhode Island corps member, she served as a City Year corps member in Providence. Madeleine has seen education systems from different perspectives and is excited to analyze them further through the UEP program. She hopes to broaden her understanding and gain new skills to research and create more just and effective education systems. When Madeleine isn’t reading about education, she stays active outside, enjoys birding, listens to too many podcasts, and tries to find the best food in Rhode Island.
