Veterans Day ceremony at Brown honors the service of veterans past, present and future

HON Gilbert Cisneros Jr., a U.S. Navy veteran, urban education policy A.M. alum, and the nation's Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, delivered the keynote speech at Brown's Veterans Day ceremony.

Veterans Day ceremony keynote speaker Under Secretary Cisneros, who earned a master’s degree in urban education policy from Brown, underscored the role played by universities in helping to connect passionate, innovative students with diverse backgrounds and experiences to the military, and in creating a service corps that reflects the diversity of the country.

Following the ceremony, Cisneros met with Professor Kenneth Wong, director of the Urban Education Policy (UEP) program, to discuss his career after UEP and his current efforts to promote college access for veterans.
