Ash Horn (she/her) is a graduate student in the Urban Education Policy program with a background in non-profit leadership, data analytics, and project management. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley. There, she co-founded Acorn, a nonprofit focused on education. Through Acorn, she developed and taught a 3D design curriculum to students in Oakland, CA, and co-hosted a Podcast that explored educators’ experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. Professionally, Ash has spent eight years working for a non-profit, most recently as a Data Management Analyst and Technical Product Owner on a data infrastructure and analytics team. She has experience leading cross-functional initiatives to streamline reporting, support strategic planning, and implement data improvement initiatives. Ash hopes to utilize the skills and insights she gains from the UEP program to address inequities in K–12 education, advocate for students, and support teachers, school leaders, and families through robust, culturally responsive, and data-driven education policy.
