Brian Hwang
Biography
Brian Hwang (he/him) is a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) student at Brown University specializing in secondary science education. Having graduated magna cum laude from Brown in 2026 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Bachelor of Arts in Education Studies, Brian is enthusiastic about both physics and education and hopes to combine these passions as a physics teacher. Brian is a part of the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honors Society and received the Tau Beta Pi Scholarship in 2025.
Starting his second year as an undergraduate student, Brian has worked as a teaching assistant for Brown University’s two introductory engineering courses, helping students grasp foundational concepts of mechanics and engineering design. Brian has also previously worked as an Electricity and Magnetism tutor and a Brown Design Workshop Monitor, where he taught hands-on workshops to students and local community members on how to operate various tools in Brown University’s makerspace. For two summers, Brian has worked as a project engineer intern for DPR Construction and EIG Electrical Systems respectively, honing his organization, management, and communication skills in the construction industry.
In his free time, Brian enjoys playing badminton and has coached regularly at his local club, teaching the sport to students of varying ages and skill levels. Upon completing his MAT, Brian hopes to teach high school physics.
