Deborah Cherman
Biography
Deborah Cherman (she/her) is pursuing a Master in Arts in Teaching, with a focus on science education. Deborah completed her undergraduate studies at Brown University, where she was an undergraduate assistant, an outdoor educator, a Royce Fellow for Community-Engaged Research, and an Annenberg Research Fellows for Social Science and Public Policy. Upon earning graduating with A.B. degrees in Health and Human Biology and Anthropology in 2025, Deborah was awarded a Fulbright Grant, which allowed her to teach English as a foreign language to middle and high school students in Rychnov nad Kněžnou, a small town in the Czech Republic. Through these experiences, Deborah has developed a passion for enthusiastic, student-focused, and culturally-responsive science education. Deborah is eager to learn from her peers and mentos in the MAT and bringing the knowledge and skills she gains this year into Providence schools. When she is not in the classroom, Deborah enjoys spending time outside, knitting, baking, and watching horror movies.
