Enrique Nunez
Biography
Enrique is a former mathematics educator, school instructional leader, and published author from San Antonio, Texas. As a first-generation college graduate and former student in the urban core of San Antonio, his experiences have shaped his commitment to educational equity and urban public schools.
As a mathematics educator, Enrique focused on creating equitable, data-informed learning environments that prioritize student growth and academic achievement, belonging, and a love of mathematics. As an instructional leader, he led teams, mentored educators, analyzed student achievement data, and developed culturally responsive mathematics resources to support diverse learners.
His research interests center on education policy, school governance, equitable resource allocation, and the preservation of community-centered public schools. Through the Urban Education Policy program, Enrique hopes to deepen his understanding of how policy decisions and resource allocation shape opportunities for students and educators in the urban core.
Outside of the classroom, Enrique is an avid reader, enjoys outdoor recreational activities such as camping and hiking, loves coffee, and above all, spending time with his dog, Pepper.
