Hermand Duverne
Biography
Hermand Duverne (he/him) is a graduate student in the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Math cohort at Brown University. He brings a strong foundation in mathematics to his educator training, having previously earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics from Brown University and an Associate Degree in Mathematics from the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI).
Hermand possesses valuable classroom experience within the Providence Public School District (PPSD). He began his teaching career at Nathanael Greene Middle School in December 2024 and currently serves as a mathematics teacher at Central High School. His transition from these local classrooms into Brown's graduate teacher preparation program allows him to directly connect practical, real-world instructional insights with advanced educational theory.
Looking to the future, Hermand aims to use his comprehensive mathematical background and urban teaching experience to foster analytical thinking in secondary school students. He plans to leverage his advanced training from Brown University to design inclusive, impactful curricula that inspire the next generation of problem solvers.
