Biography

Education: Vassar College, B.A. in Mathematics, 2024

Isabel Heider (they/them) is pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching in secondary Math. They graduated from Vassar College in 2024 with a B.A. in Mathematics. Isabel has spent the past year working with middle and high school students as a teaching assistant, tutor, and librarian in their hometown of Nyack, NY. They have greatly enjoyed getting re-involved in the community they grew up in, and are excited to become involved in the Providence community as well! Isabel has wanted to be a teacher ever since they played one in their first grade school play, and they are thrilled to be pursuing a degree in math education. They firmly believe that math can be fun and exciting, and that every student deserves the opportunity to see it that way. Isabel tries to encourage their students to approach math with curiosity and playfulness, and is excited to continue to connect with a variety of learners during their time in the MAT program and beyond. Outside of the classroom, Isabel enjoys reading, trivia competitions, playing frisbee, and arts and crafts.
