Latifa Alghanim
Biography
Latifa Alghanim (she/her) is a graduate student in Secondary English Education at Brown University. She recently earned a master's degree and Rhode Island teaching certification in Elementary Education from University of Rhode Island after previously completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design at California College of the Arts.
Throughout her teacher preparation, Latifa gained extensive experience in multilingual and bilingual elementary classrooms in Providence and East Providence, where she worked closely with multilingual learners and developed a passion for culturally responsive, student-centered instruction. She has been recognized for her academic achievement, leadership, and service through the URI College of Education Student Success Fund Scholarship and the Anthony S. Fountain & Alissa Fountain-Burse Scholarship, for which she was selected as one of only three national recipients. She is also a member of Phi Kappa Phi honor society.
As an international student from Kuwait, Latifa brings a global perspective to her work and is passionate about supporting diverse learners through equitable educational practices. As she begins her graduate studies at Brown, she looks forward to becoming a secondary English teacher who fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of literature while advocating for multilingual learners and educational equity. She hopes to continue building meaningful relationships with students and creating classrooms where every learner has the opportunity to thrive.
