Marli Spriggs

Urban Education Policy (UEP)

Biography

Marli Spriggs (she/her) earned her Bachelor of Science in Economics with a minor in Philosophy at the University of Warwick, UK, graduating in 2026. Through her studies, she developed a strong interest in analysing education policy and inequity from an economic perspective, with a focus on equitable access to quality education, adolescent literacy development, and learning loss during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Beyond academia, Marli is an avid reader attuned to literacy’s importance. This passion comes to life through BookSpace, the small business and attached charity she founded in 2021 to improve the frequency, level, and enthusiasm with which young people read across Bermuda. BookSpace's recent milestones include launching a national book report competition with the Bermuda National Library, publishing 37 articles in Marli's ‘Must-Reads for Youth’ book review column in The Royal Gazette (Bermuda’s only national newspaper), and running a monthly book club for fourteen teenage girls in partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters Bermuda and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated’s Sigma Xi Omega Chapter.
