Monica Colchado
Biography
Monica Colchado (she/her), is a graduate student at Brown University pursuing a masters degree in Urban Education Policy. As a recent graduate from Wellesley College, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Education Studies and Psychology, Monica has focused on understanding the development of youth, highlighting marginalized voices, and, in particular, looking at the experience of multicultural and multilingual learners. During her time at Wellesley, she had the opportunity to work at the Wellesley College Child Study Center as a team teacher, working with children aged 3-5. She also was part of the 2025 Wellesley in Washington cohort where she interned with Population Education in Washington D.C., developing culturally responsive curricula for multilingual K-12 students.
As a Pamela Daniels Fellow, she worked at the Rafael Hernandez Dual Language K-6 school in Roxbury, Massachusetts. As a development and parent program intern, she worked with immigrant community members training to become dual language educators and was able to explore leadership development and the meaning of belonging for immigrant parents navigating new language, social, and educational systems. Being a first-generation, low-income student from Los Angeles, Monica is committed to community engaged scholarship and examining the intersections of race, migration, power, and justice.
