Paul Batastini DellOvo grew up in Worcester and Providence. He graduated from La Salle Academy in Providence in 2020. Paul then studied History at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, graduating in 2024. In his undergraduate studies, Paul specialized in American History particularly focusing on educational segregation and desegregation. During this time, he conducted various research projects on the following subjects: labor history in the Upper Midwest, Scottish political history and literature at the University of Glasgow, and educational resegregation in the Twin Cities. Paul has maintained a steadfast commitment to the youth of Providence. Since 2016, he has worked for the City of Providence in various roles---recreation counselor, summer food service site supervisor, waterpark staff, and director for Eat Play Learn. Paul has also served through Americorps with Providence After School Alliance and City Year Providence. Currently, Paul is a youth coordinator and basketball coach at Armand E. Batastini Recreation Center. He is also the Middle School Director of Rhode Island Rivals, a grassroots basketball program. Following the MAT program, Paul plans to teach social studies in Providence Public Schools. Paul will dedicate his career to teaching, coaching, and developing the future leaders of Providence and beyond.
