The 5th-year master's degree option allows Brown undergraduates to continue at the University for a master's degree after completing their bachelor's degrees. Students apply during their senior year and may be able to apply up to 2 undergraduate credits toward their MAT degree. Applications for the 2020-2021 Academic Year are due on January 18, 2021.

Applicants to the 5th-year program have a condensed application. Applicants must upload an unofficial transcript, a personal statement, CV, and two letters of recommendation. 

When applicants are creating their application please do not use your Brown email address (if you request a deferral, the Brown email address becomes inactivated).

Indicating 5th-Year in Application:

Once in the application portal, under Personal Background - Additional Questions, there will be a Current Student Status section that looks like the below. Indicate that you're currently a student at Brown University and enter your Banner ID.

This will indicate that you're a current Brown senior and allow you to upload 2 letters of recommendation (instead of 3).
