We are excited to introduce our newest student ambassadors representing the Combined Baccalaureate/Master of Arts in Teaching (Bacc/MAT) program. Through this pathway, Brown University students can take up to two MAT courses during senior year, reducing graduate course load and tuition; get early advising from MAT faculty and access opportunities to build teaching experience; and transition into our one-year MAT program, which blends intensive coursework, hands-on teaching, and personalized coaching. Brown students can apply by May 1 of their junior year.
These ambassadors are here to share their experiences with prospective Bacc/MAT students. Brown students curious about the program should reach out to them anytime with questions or just to chat.
Kaitlin Dang
Kaitlin Dang (she/her) is an undergraduate senior at Brown University, studying Applied Mathematics-Biology, and plans to pursue secondary Mathematics as part of the Bacc/MAT cohort. In past summers, Kaitlin has served as a Teaching Fellow at Breakthrough Summerbridge in San Francisco, where she was also once a student in the program! You can find her talking animatedly about linear algebra and multivariable calculus as a TA in the Applied Math department, trying new cafes in Providence, or playing soccer out on the field. She hopes to spread her joy of learning through math and encourage her students to appreciate the subject in their everyday lives!
Huyen Le
Huyen Le (they/them) is an undergraduate senior at Brown studying education studies and English literature, and plans to pursue secondary English as part of the Bacc/MAT cohort. Passionate about the intersection of literary theory, critical pedagogy, and creative practices, Huyen aims to build community spaces through trust and whimsy. In their spare time, they can be found drawing, listening to music, and playwriting.
