Alumni Outcomes

Brown MAT graduates are prepared to lead in urban classrooms and beyond.

Graduates join a strong network of educators—faculty, peers, and alumni—committed to advancing equity in education. Our alumni teach in Providence and across the country, taking on roles as department chairs, mentor teachers, peer coaches, and professional development leaders early in their careers.

They also serve as school leaders, researchers, and community advocates, working to build the learning environments all students deserve.

Impact

Graduates of the MAT program leave Brown feeling prepared not only to teach but also to become education leaders, community advocates, and changemakers.

Almost 100% of every MAT class is certified to teach in Rhode Island upon graduation and many have the opportunity to get to work in Providence-area schools right away. Wherever Brown’s newly minted teachers want to make an impact, their high expectations, strong academic preparation, and caring and collaborative focus will be in high demand.

Overall employment for middle and high school teachers is expected to remain stable through 2033, and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects about 64,000 high school and 47,000 middle school teaching openings annually.
