Where are you doing your student teaching, and what did you like the most about the experience so far?

I am doing my student teaching at East Providence High School in Rhode Island. What I like the most about my student teaching is my mentor, students, and the other social studies teachers in the department. My mentor and other teachers in the department have been incredibly supportive in helping me learn and improve my teaching. I have seen a lot of growth in my teaching over the academic year.

How did your undergraduate and work experiences before this program inspire you to go into teaching and pursue a MAT degree?

Luckily I already had some teaching experience before entering the program that confirmed my desire to continue my education. My work as an anthropology teaching assistant/ tutor and conversational English teacher in South Korea inspired me to pursue an MAT degree.

What excites you the most about your post-graduate plans?

Something that excites me about my post-graduate plans is that I will have more time to learn through work experiences and continue growing as an educator.

What is something you enjoy about living in Rhode Island?

Rhode Island is my home! I love that there is a small-town feel no matter where you go and is connected to many larger cities on the East Coast. I could not imagine doing my student teaching anywhere other than Rhode Island.
