Biography

Hometown: Tiverton, Rhode Island

Education: Brown University, Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, Bachelor of Arts in Economics (Business Track), Class of 2025

Jameson (he/his) is a recent graduate of Brown University where he completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and another in Economics on the business track. During his time at Brown, Jameson devoted his time to learning, teaching, and his family. Being from Tiverton, Rhode Island, Jameson often visited home to see his mother and his sister who has Autism Spectrum Disorder. Growing up with a mindset that family comes first, community building is something that he takes very seriously. In the summer of 2024, Jameson served as a member of Generation Teach - AmeriCorps in Providence where he co-taught engineering and team sports for five weeks, and led engaging community building initiatives to foster strong student relationships and invest in students' education. Within the math department at Brown, Jameson spent a semester as a Math Teaching Fellow and Undergraduate Teaching Assistant where he facilitated classroom activities grounded in evidence-based pedagogy (Team Based Learning) to promote equitable learning opportunities, and promoted the development of growth mindset in his students through embracing imperfection, reframing challenges as learning opportunities, and provided opportunities for self-evaluation. Jameson's passion for teaching and education stems from his older brother who helped him with his homework and taught him how to play baseball by volunteering as an assistant coach for many years while Jameson was growing up. This passion grew as Jameson volunteered as an assistant baseball coach and soccer trainer, and even tutored classmates in high school. Once he was accepted into Brown for his undergrad and remembered how good it felt to share his knowledge and passion of math with others, Jameson wanted to pursue a career in teaching high school math where he can help fellow students in low socioeconomic status reach their goals like his brother and teachers helped him.
