Alea Rubin Evens is originally from Chicago, IL, and is a part of the MAT science cohort. She recently graduated from Georgetown University with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Education, Inquiry, and Justice. During college, she spent time in D.C. Public Schools science classrooms, serving in both tutoring and teaching assistant roles. Additionally, she worked as a program specialist for the Pivotal Network, a professional learning network for teachers of first-generation and lower-income students. Alea is passionate about facilitating science learning that is culturally sustaining and integrates local communities. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, trying new restaurants with friends, and watching movies.
