John Higgins was born and raised in the foothills of Southeastern Ohio in a river town by the name of Ironton. He graduated from Ohio University with a bachelor’s degree in history and political science. During his undergraduate career, he was able to substitute teach in the local school districts, teach Spanish to kindergarteners through a university partnership, and be active in his hometown's historical society. John is honored and humbled to be accepted into Brown’s MAT program, where he hopes to learn how to prepare the next generation of students.
