Education: University of Rhode Island, Degree in Human Development and Family Sciences, and a Degree in Spanish     

Melannie is a proud Rhode Island native who was born and raised in a close-knit community. Growing up in this vibrant environment, she developed a deep appreciation for the values of inclusivity and equal opportunity. Her unwavering passion for equitable education for all has become the cornerstone of her professional career.

With a strong belief in the transformative power of education, Melannie has dedicated her efforts to breaking down barriers and creating a level playing field for students from diverse backgrounds. She holds a deep understanding of the importance of providing equal access to quality education, regardless of one's socioeconomic status.

Melannie’s career path led her to work at the administration level for a charter school, where she played a pivotal role in optimizing operations and ensuring smooth functioning of the institution. Her acute attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments allowed her to make significant contributions to the school's growth and success.

What sets Melannie apart is her unique perspective, shaped by her cultural background. As someone who cherishes and embraces her own heritage, she recognizes the significance of diversity in education and the valuable insights it brings to the table. Outside of her professional pursuits, Melannie is actively involved in her local community. She enjoys taking walks with her dog Bruno, trying new foods, and exploring Rhode Island and Northern New England.
