Biography

Education: Rhode Island College K-6 Mild to Moderate Special Education with an additional certification in -12 Severe Intellectual Disabilities

Michaela Andreozzi is a graduate student at Brown University, pursuing a degree in Urban Education Policy. Michaela began her undergraduate studies at the Community College of Rhode Island, where she received honors, and presented on the topic of proficiency vs. growth in the public education system, and discussed how students’ socioeconomic status impacts their academic performance. Michaela then received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Mild to Moderate Special Education from Rhode Island College in 2023, as well as a certification in Severe Intellectual Disabilities from kindergarten through age 21. Upon graduating from Rhode Island College, Michaela was the recipient of the Dr. Elisa Bonaventura Award. This award is given to one graduating student every year who has made a significant contribution to the education of persons with developmental disabilities from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

Michaela has been student teaching throughout Rhode Island for the past few years in cities including Providence, Central Falls, and Cranston. She has experience in creating lesson plans that align with students’ individual needs and the Common Core State Standards, developing Individualized Education Programs, and administering Functional Behavior Assessments. Michaela also has research experience on the topics of school demographics and policy. Michaela chose to join the Urban Education Policy Program at Brown University because of her passion to ensure that students of all racial and economic backgrounds receive a fair and equal opportunity to an exceptional education while being provided with the resources necessary for them to succeed. Michaela hopes to initiate positive change in school systems locally and nationally, as well as inspire teachers to teach all students with equal intent.
