Yoko Yamamoto, Visiting Assistant Professor in Education, contributed a chapter, "Are There Parenting Gaps? Research on Child-Rearing and Education in the U.S." to a recently published book in Japanese. The book, Families and Child-Rearing Strategies Supporting Children's Schooling: A Longitudinal Study in an Urban City, edited by Japanese sociologists, highlights asset-based processes through which families from diverse economic backgrounds support their young children's schooling in an urban city in Osaka, Japan. Yoko served as a research adviser for this longitudinal study and collaborated with them as a summer invited scholar over the last five years.
