Providence activists: Summer of protests leaves unfinished work for racial justice

Assistant Professor of Education Jonathan Collins offered commentary on the local protests centered around a crash involving a Providence police cruiser that left a 24-year-old man on a scooter critically injured.

In The Providence Journal, Assistant Professor of Education Jonathan Collins commented on the city's local protests centered around a crash involving a Providence police cruiser that left a 24-year-old man on a scooter critically injured in October. "The Jhamal Gonsalves situation is interesting because it hasn’t garnered much national media attention, but I think if the situation continues to escalate and people beyond the city of Providence and state of Rhode Island are talking about it more and more, this could create the kind of external pressure that could turn this into a situation that has to be met with a response."
