Student Spotlight: Kyra Hu

Learn about Generation Teach and Kyra Hu's experience during her time as a math teacher in Providence.

"Generation Teach is doing great work with students in Providence and elsewhere, and I had a great experience with the team this summer. The GT Virtual Academy built community and pushed students academically, while respecting the fact that students can't spend all day in front of a screen. As a math teacher, I was wary of trudging through dry lesson plans, but instead I was teaching math concepts in engaging forms filled with real-life examples. I highly recommend joining the GT team for an exciting summer with a great group of students" -Kyra Hu, Brown ‘22

Engage with teaching this summer through Generation Teach, an organization which partners with districts and charter schools to engage middle-school students in summer learning, invests undergraduate and high-school students in teaching, and develops professional teachers as leaders. Complete two weeks of training before teaching one academic class (engineering, law, math, or reading) and one elective for six weeks. GT provides the academic curricula and support for your elective, mentorship, and routine feedback. Fellows will engage with students both inside and outside of the classroom.
