Ariel Markowski is a graduate student at Brown University, where she is pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in secondary mathematics. She is an accelerated summa cum laude graduate of Lafayette College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics as well as English. She aspires to become a professor of mathematics, in which position she hopes to promote accessibility, creativity, and support within the field.

Ariel has eight years of tutoring experience, with students ranging from high school to college level. She has also taught in a classroom setting at an afterschool math program for advanced students, who ranged from grade 4 to grade 12. She chose Brown largely due to the welcoming community it provides, and the instructors fostering the type of environment she'd like to create for her future students. She hopes to take from this experience innovative and engaging methods of mathematics instruction to inspire a love for mathematics both in students who already enjoy the subject and in those who have previously found themselves discouraged or disinterested.

Her core belief is that problem-solving is an art that is meant to be enjoyed by all.
