Cora Stone (she/her) is a UEP student from South Carolina with a background in journalism and education. She currently teaches 12th-grade English at Hope High School in Providence, RI, and will continue to teach during her time at Brown.

While studying journalism at the University of South Carolina, Cora developed an interest in educational equity. As an education beat reporter, she investigated and reported on a wide range of education-related topics including policy changes, teacher burnout, and challenges facing students and educators in South Carolina. This experience inspired her to pursue a career in teaching through Teach For America post-graduation in 2022. During her first year of teaching, she obtained a master’s degree in education from Rhode Island College.

Outside of the classroom, Cora enjoys reading, running, and spending time outdoors. She is eager to further her knowledge of educational policy to gain a deeper understanding of the system in which she works through the UEP program.
