Biography

Hometown: Detroit, MI    
Education: Master of Arts in English/Creative Writing - Wayne State University, Class of 2021; Bachelor of Arts in English, Minor in Fine Art - Wayne State University, Class of 2019   

Julianne Meiu is a Master’s Candidate in the Urban Education Policy program. Originally from Detroit, MI, she is deeply invested in the revitalization of urban school systems across the nation and sees the urban educational landscape as one of immense opportunity.

Julianne is a graduate of Wayne State University, where she studied English, Creative Writing, and Fine Arts. After graduation, she joined Teach for America Indianapolis to teach English at a Dual-Language school in the Haughville neighborhood. After finishing her years of service, she served as a Leadership for Educational Equity Public Policy Fellow at the Rhode Island Department of Education working on teacher recruitment and retention initiatives throughout the state.

Outside of class, Julianne is an avid reader, published poet, devoted yogi, and competitive paddle-board racer.
