Biography

Hometown: Winston Salem, NC    
Education: BA in English, minor in Anthropology from Davidson College, 2021    

Lauren is a first-generation college student from Winston Salem, NC, and earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from Davidson College in 2021. Since graduating in 2021, Lauren has become a licensed secondary special education and English Language Arts teacher in the state of Rhode Island through Rhode Island College, where she earned her MEd in May 2023. Lauren is currently an incoming third-year teacher at Rise Prep Mayoral Academy in Woonsocket, RI. Her experience in the Rhode Island education system, along with her passion for rectifying educational inequities across Rhode Island, is what led her to pursue the UEP program. Lauren hopes to use the knowledge and experience she gains from the UEP program to continue to serve local education systems.
