Samwel Luhaga

Samwel Luhaga is an MAT (English) candidate, Language teacher, educator, project manager, and learner with special interest in matters regarding youth development-. He is a Fulbright scholar who spent the 2022-2023 academic year teaching Swahili language and culture at Brown University and learning about American culture and education policies.
He is a double alumnus of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) and Young Expert Program (Water track), where he learned organization leadership skills, project management, intercultural work, and proposal writing.
Samwel has worked as teacher of English language for 6 years, and worked as a project officer, manager and programs coordinator at a local NGO, E-mac Tanzania.
Samwel cofounded AfrEd, an NGO that would improve education provision in Tanzania. This project will use information technology to increase performance of secondary school leavers and help them develop skills for employability and job creation. He believes that education should be innovative, relevant, and transformative.
Influenced by his mum's love for storytelling, he loves writing stories.
Samwel aims to bridge the gap between education and the non-profit sector by working with both educational institutions and non-profit organizations. He also plans to deepen his expertise in the English language by pursuing a Ph.D.
