Applicants may request to be admitted to the UEP program on an extended study basis. Interested applicants will need to include a brief statement within their application that includes their justification for extended study. Students who are accepted to study on an extended basis will complete the program over two academic years.

Yes, extended study students are eligible for financial aid. Further information about tuition and applying for scholarships can be found on this website.
The UEP program is highly structured for both full-time and extended study students. Matriculated students will not be able to change their enrollment status from full-time to extended study, or vice versa.
UEP program graduate students complete nine (9) courses in total: one elective and eight core courses, which includes a nine-month internship that counts as one course.
Students take an elective course during the fall or spring of their first year. The elective must be approved by the student's faculty advisor and can be in an area such as public policy, schools and school reform, social contexts of education, economic analysis, urban politics, quantitative analysis, research methods, schools and communities, and organization and leadership.

Summer II
| There are no required courses during the Summer II semester. Students will use this time to explore possible internship sites, schedule and complete interviews, and complete and submit the Internship Agreement Form by the appropriate deadline for review approval and final signoff. |
