Congratulations on your acceptance!

We are excited to welcome you to the Department of Education! Our department's mission is to understand and improve education through research, teaching, and practice. We are committed to a liberal arts approach to graduate education that emphasizes critical inquiry and reflection, broad and diverse perspectives, dedication to the public good, the interconnection of theory and practice, and a multi-disciplinary education that equips students to be thoughtful leaders and agents of change.

Important Dates

Education Department Admitted Students Day (in person)	Friday, March 21, 2025
Orientation Dates	Department of Education Orientation: Monday, June 16, 2025 - required International Orientation: Wednesday, August 20 and Thursday, August 21, 2025 - optional but encouraged Master's Student Orientation: Tuesday, August 26, 2025 - optional
First Day of Classes	Summer: Tuesday, June 17, 2025 Fall: Wednesday, September 3, 2025 Spring (MAT): MAT students will begin classes in January in conjunction with local schools (typically January 2) Spring (UEP): Wednesday, January 21, 2025
University Calendar	Brown's Academic Calendar 2025-2026 Note: some of our programs' dates will be different from the university calendar, such as the start of the summer semester and MAT students' return to campus after winter break. Please refer to the information you are given directly from the Education Department if there is a discrepancy.
